Some problems with spiral coil binding

Some problems with spiral coil binding?

Book Printing Terminology: What Is Wire-O Binding?

The spiral coil binding method uses a spring-like coil to connect the book's cover and pages as a whole, but can rotate freely. Books bound in this way can be laid flat for hands-free reading and are a good choice for instruction and repair manuals, recipes, manuals, guides, and other reference materials.

1) Is spiral binding the same as coil binding?

Yes. Spiral binding and coil binding are interchangeable terms for the same book binding method.

2) How to make a spiral bound book?

The spiral binding method uses very durable plastic coils to connect the pages and the cover. The coil is shaped like a long spring, inserted and twisted through small holes punched along the book's cover and the spine of the page.

The number of holes per inch is called the pitch, which usually varies between 3 and 5, with 4 holes (4: 1) per inch being the most widely used pitch. After feeding the coil with the appropriate pitch into all the holes on the cover and page, crimp the ends of the coil to hold it in place.
