Custom coil binding, made to your exact spec
For over ten years, YPS has produced the spiral coil, double loop wire and the forming machines that make them - all under one roof. So when you need a binding spine in a particular size, pitch or brand color, you're dealing with the people who run the line, not a trader passing your order along.

One supplier for every binding element you run
Pick the format your line uses. Each one is built to your size, pitch, color and packaging - supplied loose, on the spool, or paired with the machine that forms it.

Binding supplies, boxed under your own brand
If you resell binding hardware, the real headache usually isn't finding coil - it's keeping color and quality consistent from one shipment to the next, and getting it packed under your own label. That's the part we take off your plate.
We produce your wire-o and spiral coil to a fixed recipe, store the color and tooling after the first run, and box it with your name, barcode and artwork. Plastic coil packs at 15 kg per spool, 2 spools per carton - or in whatever count keeps your shelves tidy.

Spiral notebooks & sketchbooks with your name on the cover
Brands that want a branded notebook rarely want to juggle coil, paper and printing across three vendors. Because we bind in-house, YPS builds the whole book - cover, inner pages and the matching coil - as one order, so the spine color actually sits right against your cover art.
Popular starting points: a hardcover A5 planner with 80 lined pages on 100gsm paper that won't bleed under fountain pens, an eco PET-coil student notebook, or a 160gsm hardbound artist sketch pad. Logo runs start at a low MOQ, with bulk wholesale pricing as volumes grow.

Electroplated spines in gold & rose gold
Most factories stop at coated color. Our electroplated wire-o carries a real metal shine - gold, rose gold, bronze and silver - the kind of finish that makes a planner or gift book read as premium the moment it's picked up.
It's become the signature many of our stationery and corporate-gift customers come back for, paired with a matching hardcover. If you're chasing a high-end look on the shelf, this is where a plated metal spine earns its place over a plastic one.

Exact numbers, not vague promises

What buyers usually want to know
"Will the color match on the next order?"
The recipe and die are stored after run one, so reorders match the approved sample instead of being re-matched from scratch.
"What if the pitch doesn't fit our punch?"
Send your machine model or a punched sample sheet; we confirm 2:1 / 3:1 / 4:1 fit before production, not after.
"Can you cover our compliance market?"
Tell us the destination and standard; we issue SGS, REACH and RoHS paperwork in its current version.
"Is the coil going to rust in humid storage?"
Nylon/PET coating seals the steel; plated wire is finished for bare-metal use. Both hold up in shipping and storage.
You're buying from the factory, not a middleman
Plenty of sellers buy coil from a forming shop and re-box it. We run the whole chain - metal forming, plastic extrusion, punching, cutting and binding - so a change to your pitch, gauge or color is a setting on our own line, not a favor asked of someone else's.

A distributor's own-brand coil line
- The ask
- Move from re-boxing generic stock to a consistent house range: six brand colors matched across both metal and plastic spiral coil, plus 2:1 double loop wire, all under one branded carton.
- What we did
- Matched each color once across coated metal and PET plastic, stored the recipes, standardized cut lengths to their two book formats to kill trim waste, and printed their cartons.
-
Result - a repeatable own-brand range where metal and plastic read as the same color on the shelf, and every reorder ships against stored tooling instead of a fresh color match.
The sourcing questions worth getting right
Q: What's the minimum order for a custom binding coil, and why per color?
A: For Pantone-matched metal coil and wire-o, minimums usually start around 5,000 pieces per size and per color; custom-color plastic coil is quoted by weight from roughly 100 kg per color; stock sizes and colors ship from a single 100-piece box. The count is per size/color because of how the line works, not policy - each diameter needs its own pitch die set-up and each color needs a coating or compound changeover that's only economic across a minimum run. It fits distributors, printers and brands ordering a defined range; for a genuine one-off single book, stock coil is the smarter route.
Q: Is 2:1 or 3:1 double loop wire better for my page count?
A: Match pitch to sheet count first, then to your punch die. 3:1 (3 holes per inch, 32 holes on an 11-inch spine) suits roughly 2–125 sheets of 20 lb paper in diameters up to 9/16 inch - notebooks, reports, thinner manuals. 2:1 (2 holes per inch, 21 holes on an 11-inch spine) suits roughly 126–280 sheets in diameters from 5/8 inch up, for thick manuals and directories. The point most suppliers skip: some 2:1 tooling now runs the smaller diameters too, so a bindery standardizing on one 2:1 punch can cover the full size span with a single machine - the trade-off is slightly wider hole spacing on small books. If you run mixed jobs on one punch, send the machine model and we'll confirm the die before cutting.
Q: How does color matching work, and what should we send?
A: Send the Pantone coated (C) code plus a physical swatch, because coated steel wire and extruded plastic don't reproduce a print color the same way - the same code lands a touch warmer on nylon-coated wire than on paper, and a plastic compound shifts again. The usual mistake is approving color from a screen or a printed sheet, then finding the coil reads off against the cover on the shelf. We avoid it by returning a physical pre-production sample on the actual material for sign-off, and by matching a house color across both metal and plastic at once when a range needs to look consistent. Once you approve it, the recipe is filed so future runs repeat rather than drift.
Common questions before you send a spec
Q: What's the minimum order for custom coil binding?
A: Per size and color: custom Pantone metal coil and wire-o from ~5,000 pcs; custom-color plastic coil by weight from ~100 kg; stock sizes from one 100-piece box; OEM logo notebooks at a low MOQ. Your quote confirms exact figures.
Q: Can you match my brand's Pantone color?
A: Yes - coated wire matched to a Pantone coated (C) reference, plastic compounded to target. Send the code plus a physical swatch; we return a sample on the real material for sign-off, then store the recipe for reorders.
Q: 2:1 or 3:1 double loop wire - which do I need?
A: 3:1 binds ~2–125 sheets (32 holes on an 11-inch spine, up to 9/16-inch); 2:1 binds ~126–280 sheets (21 holes, 5/8 inch and up). The pitch has to match your binding machine's punch.
Q: Do you supply on spools or pre-cut?
A: Both. Double wire loop ships continuous on spools for in-line forming, or cut to length for hand and semi-automatic binding. Plastic coil packs 15 kg per spool, 2 spools per carton; single coil in 12" (305mm) and 36" (916mm) or custom-cut.
Q: Can you private-label and custom-package?
A: Yes - your name, barcode and artwork, in box counts, spool weights or bulk cartons, built for resellers distributing under their own brand.
Q: Are your materials certified and food-safe?
A: ISO 9001–certified production with SGS reports available. PET plastic coil is food-grade, phthalate- and lead-free with no halogens - suitable for children's books and cookbooks. REACH/RoHS docs on request.
Q: Can I buy the coil and the forming machine together?
A: Yes. We build the forming, extruding, punching, cutting and binding machines in-house, so a machine set for a chosen pitch and the consumable it runs come on one shared spec.
Q: Do you offer free samples?
A: Yes, samples are free for quality checks (shipping at cost) and typically ready in 3–7 working days once the spec is confirmed.
