what is Coil binding?

Coil binding, also known as spiral binding, is a very popular and relatively simple method of binding. The coil binding process uses durable plastic or metal coils similar to long springs to secure the pages and covers of a book.

Insert the coil and twist it through small holes punched along the book's cover and the spine of the page. After passing through all the holes on the cover and page, crimp the ends of the coil to hold it in place.

Unlike most other binding styles, there is no spinal tension in the coil-bound pages. Therefore, the resistance of the page of the coil binding book is small when the page is rotated around the coil. This keeps the pages of the coil-bound document as they are, without having to keep them open to view the content.
